Purdue University - Lambert Fieldhouse

800 W Stadium Ave, West Lafayette, IN 47906

Originally called the Fieldhouse and Gymnasium for Men.  When it was built in 1937, it consisted of a one-story fieldhouse and a four-story gymnasium. It also contained offices, training areas, locker rooms, classrooms, several small gymnasiums, a large gymnasium, an Olympic-size swimming pool and a fieldhouse with an unobstructed floor that sat 8,500 people for basketball games. Most memorably, on February 24, 1947, the east wooden bleachers collapsed during the halftime of a basketball game against the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Three people were killed, and over 250 others were injured.
