Nestled amidst the serene beauty of Richmond, Indiana, the Artist's Retreat Guest House offers a peaceful, inspiring haven for visitors to the city. This charming rental home provides a unique and enriching experience, where guests can immerse themselves in vibrant surroundings and a comfy, cozy atmosphere. Here’s everything you need to know about the eclectic spot.
The Artist’s Retreat Guest House offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, designed to make guests feel at home, and it truly does. The two bedrooms are thoughtfully decorated with original artwork, creating a stimulating and inspiring environment. Its location in a historic area of Richmond only makes the bungalow-style house that much more appealing.
As for the living and dining areas, I love the fact that the hosts, Carvin L. Rinehart and Paul Risch, put their own special touches into the decor—especially paintings and drawings from the creepy classic, Dark Shadows. Step into a bedroom and you’ll find the series on DVD in case you get inspired to watch.
Each bedroom features comfortable accommodations, including plush bedding and lovely natural light. What I loved most about the bedrooms is the fact that they’re filled with the owner’s personal art as well as pieces he’s collected through the decades. You can easily sleep four people in the two double beds with no problem, although it was nice for both my daughter and I to each have our own bed each night.
The kitchen is complete with everything you need to cook, apart from the food and drink. The cabinet is stocked with coffee and tea for mornings. If you do want to cook while you’re there, no problem.
I’m not sure which I like better, the front porch or the backyard. The front of the house, complete with a zen garden to play with, is calming and quiet. The backyard was decorated in a Japanese Garden theme, so you’ll find respite there as well. The street was also quiet, so I had no worries about my vehicle parked outside.
