VCC Mural

One thing that thriving communities often have in common is support for the arts. Studies have shown that public art provides numerous benefits to communities - from economics to tourism to inclusion.

Valparaiso is one community that has made efforts to expand on public art efforts in recent years via the Valparaiso Creative Council - their next project being a Mural Week with a kick-off event on August 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The creative adventure involves eight downtown locations with engaging activities for all ages.

Mural week

During the event four new murals will be initiated in downtown spaces and you’ll have an opportunity to watch artists paint live. Visitors are invited to start the day at City Hall where you can get a mural map and enter a giveaway. There will be a children’s mural created as part of the event with an opportunity for kids to make their mark. The event will also include food trucks, music, performers, graffiti coloring books and more.
