I don’t know what it is about Fall in Hendricks County, but the festivals and attractions come alive as the air becomes a little cooler and crisper. There’s just something about this season in Hendricks County that makes it a perfect time to visit.

This year we even put together a quick quiz. By answering just four simple questions, you can personalize your trip by finding activities that match your interests. You can take the quiz now by clicking here.

You can also find even more things to do by checking out our Fall Road Trip Guide.

But here are our top 5 Hendricks County fall attractions to make memories.

Beasley's Orchard

1. Beasley’s Orchard

This is an easy No. 1. If you only have time to visit one place this fall in Hendricks County, Beasley’s Orchard should be it. Located in Danville, families could easily spend most of a day there. It is open every weekend now through the end of October. Visitors can tour the orchard, take a hayride to the pumpkin patch, buy fresh produce and other goods in a Civil War-era barn turned rustic market and wind their way through a huge corn maze.

You can also choose your own apples right off the trees in their u-pick portion of the orchard, shoot apples from a cannon, become king or queen of hay mountain, play in the barnyard bonanza family activity area and sample their award-winning apple cider, their new hard cider (adults only), apple dumplings or caramel apples.

They also host one of the biggest fall festivals in Central Indiana each year during the first two weekends in October. The Heartland Apple Festival includes all the above plus live music, tons of vendors and other activities.

McCloud Nature Park

2. McCloud Nature Park

This amazing park in North Salem will help you relax and become one with nature in its peaceful serenity. McCloud remains one of the best public places to see fall color in Hendricks County and has some amazing scenic trails.

It also boasts a cicada-themed prairie maze that is open now through Oct. 31 that is free to the public and their popular Fall Colors Festival, which boasts fun and educational activities on Oct. 16.

Natural Valley Ranch

3. Natural Valley Ranch

If McCloud is the best public place to see fall color, Natural Valley Ranch’s scenic property in Brownsburg may be a close second. And what better way to view it than on the back of a horse. The ranch offers guided horseback rides through its woods and ravines. It truly is an amazing experience that will create lasting memories.

The ranch also boasts a small farm animal petting zoo and two vacation rental properties on site – a cottage and a log cabin – if you need a place to stay while you’re here.

4. Hogan Farms

If you’re looking for a fun Indiana fall attraction for your family like Beasley’s but with fewer crowds, you may want to visit this farm north of Brownsburg.

Hogan Farms offers a huge corn maze, pumpkin patch, petting zoo and hayrides through the end of October.

Downtown Danville

5. Downtown Danville

My final recommendation may seem to contrast the first four I have listed, but I have it here for a reason. Beginning the first weekend in October, the crows transform the historic Hendricks County Courthouse Square…scarecrows that is.

The town’s annual Scarecrow Display provides a spectacle as families love to walk around the square marveling at the creativity. Local businesses, organizations and even families create the displays. Past scarecrows have featured everything from Minions to Big Bird. You never know what you might see from movies to pop culture to locally-inspired creations.

After you are done exploring the courthouse lawn, Danville has plenty of places to shop and eat including The Mayberry Cafe, Seize the Night Designs and Gallery on the Square, or perhaps you might want to take in a movie at the historic Royal Theater.
