I have always loved the idea of camping, even if I'm not keen on bugs or sleeping on the ground. So after so many times driving past Caboose Lake, which we could see from the interstate on our way to Indiana Beach Amusement and Water Park, we finally made plans to visit the lake campground, and it's one of my favorite summer memories.

Caboose Lake Campground

Caboose Lake is located in Remington, and although almost every other campground visit we'd made had been spent in an RV or rental cabin, I decided we'd try roughing it this time around. We stayed in a tent in a campsite right off the water, and even without air conditioning and a leaky air mattress, it was a peaceful and relaxing trip. If you don't want to do tent camping, the campground has 75-foot pull-through full hookup RV sites.

There are also several rental units. The rustic one-room cabins have air conditioning and sleep 2 adults and 2 kids. The waterfront yurts sleep up to 6 with a full-sized refrigerator and freezer, microwave, and air conditioning. There are also three deluxe cabins available to sleep up to 8 with a king-sized bed, two double beds, and a futon. These Amish-build waterfront log cabins are two-story, two-bedroom cabins with a kitchen, bathroom, eating, and living area and situated right on the lakefront with a 10 x 14-foot front porch overlooking the 20-acre spring-fed lake complete with a porch swing. And for a unique lodging option, you can stay in the Caboose. It's an actual converted train caboose that can comfortably sleep three and has a kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. Golf cart rentals are also available to get around the campground easily.

You'll find plenty to do at the Family Fun Zone. Check out inflatables both on the water and on land, bumper boats, the massive inflatable Hippo Slide, the Jumbo Shot Extreme Basketball game, a dunk tank, and water wars game.

Weekends have fun themed activities throughout the season. You're also not far from other activities and attractions that will keep you busy during the day, including Lake Shafer, Fair Oaks Farm, Wolf Park, the Tippecanoe Battlefield, and Indiana Beach. It's also located right off of I-65 at exit 201, so it's easily accessible.

Caboose Lake

Caboose Lake Campground really is a great place to make family memories. Spend time on the lake's sandy beach, do some fishing, make some s'mores, and just enjoy some family time together in the sun - whether you're glamping it in an RV or roughing it in a tent.
