Fuzzy has been recognized as one of golf’s greatest legends for decades, and now he has been awarded a brand new honor. He was recently named Indiana’s Top Golfer, a distinction that proves that he is one of the sport’s finest players and confirms his life-long connection to his home state.
As a professional golfer, Frank “Fuzzy” Zoeller won ten PGA Tour events, including two major championships. He is one of three golfers to have won the Masters Tournament in his first appearance in the event. He also won the 1984 U.S. Open, which earned him the 1985 Bob Jones Award. But it is not just his pro career that makes Indiana proud. Fuzzy is also a top golf course designer who has designed four courses in his home state.

Fuzzy is known for being an enthusiastic player on the course, and this spirit is reflected in his golf course designs, too. He was honored with the Dave Marr Memorial Award in 2010, which exemplifies sportsmanship, honesty, character, and an enthusiastic passion for the game of golf.

Fuzzy’s passion can be found in his designs of four remarkable Indiana courses – the Covered Bridge Golf Club in Sellersburg, Champions Pointe Golf Course in Henryville, Pfau Course at Indiana University in Bloomington, and Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh. These Southern Indiana courses are considered some of the finest in the state.

Located in Henryville, Indiana, Fuzzy’s Champions Pointe Golf Course is an 18-hole golf course carved through the gorgeous landscape of southern Indiana. Fuzzy designed Champions Pointe with architect Clyde Johnston. Each hole of this par 72 layout offers a new and exciting challenge from tee to green. Multiple lakes and strategically placed bunkers add to the beauty of the slightly undulated greens. Champions Pointe is a demanding yet fair test for golfers of every skill level.
Another Indiana Fuzzy Zoeller course is the Covered Bridge Golf Club. Fuzzy designed this 18-hole golf course with architect Clyde Johnston. Located in Sellersburg, Indiana, Covered Bridge Golf Course is also carved throughout the gorgeous landscape of southern Indiana. Each hole of this par 72 layout offers a new and exciting challenge from tee to green. Paved cart paths bring these 18 holes together, connecting tee boxes for golfers of every skill level. Multiple lakes and strategically placed bunkers add to the beauty of the slightly undulated greens.

Fuzzy also designed the Pfau Course at Indiana University with architect Steve Smyers. Located on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, Indiana, The Pfau Course offers a unique, world-class layout that is set in the natural beauty of southern Indiana. Featuring a state-of-the-art comprehensive short game practice area and two driving range areas, this course offers the finest practice facilities in the area to develop your game.

In addition to these excellent courses, Fuzzy and architect Clyde Johnston designed Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, Indiana. Timbergate Golf Course was named one of four courses to be a “good value” by Golf Digest. Known for being one of the most premier courses in the state of Indiana, Timbergate Golf Course was designed to be both challenging to experienced players as well as playable for golfers of all skill levels. Each hole at Timbergate Golf Course has five or more bent grass tee beds to vary the yardage of the course from 5000 to 7000 yards. Eleven ponds and several bunkers skirt the bent grass fairways and greens. Bluegrass and fescue roughs surround every hole giving each its own identity.
Indiana congratulates the state’s very own Fuzzy Zoeller on his new award as Indiana’s Top Golfer. This distinction recognizes Fuzzy’s contribution to the game as a professional player.
