My sister used to live in Huntington County … a long time ago. I haven’t been there since (and I’m sad to say that means it has been over 10 years). So … when I ventured up that way a few weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised with what I found.

Shopping … my visit started in the city of Huntington so of course I began there. I have heard so much about Antiqology that I could hardly wait to visit. IMG_7521The interior is adorable with the perfect twist on antiques. IMG_7522And the best part … in the back they offer ice cream and bottled sodas. But just not a few … over 400! They sell over 1500 bottles a week. IMG_7526That is some serious business. A few other fun facts:

  • When they opened their doors just about a year and a half ago, they only offered 67 different types of soda!
  • They currently stock over 60,000 bottles, but after the first of the year they will have over 300,000 bottles
  • They have the largest section east of the Mississippi
  • They also offer 10 flavors of ice cream

And I’m not even going to sway you in one direction … with so many options, you are SURE to fine the perfect soda for you!

Then I headed over to Roanoke (a town just about 10 miles northeast of Huntington). Their downtown is quaint, beautiful, peaceful, artistic and the list goes on. My visit unfortunately coincided with Monday (when many of the shops are closed), but I can tell you this is a great girlfriend getaway stop!IMG_7535 IMG_7534 IMG_7538 IMG_7537Not only do they have shops (Apple Blossom Antiques, Forget Me Not and Paper Moon Gift Shop to name a few) they also have ice cream - Moose and Mollies which is getting ready to open in a new, expanded space!

And all of the above is without even touching on their dining (which I’ll cover in my next blog).

Looking for a unique stop for your next girl trip? This is it. You will definitely go home with more bags than you left with!
