Hollywood is coming to Hendricks County, sort of. Actually, it's the anti-Hollywood.

It's the Indiana Short Film Festival, which will take place in Danville, Indiana on October 11 – 13, 2013. This is the only event in Central Indiana solely dedicated to short fims, and they're all made by independent filmmakers from around the world (i.e. not Hollywood mainstream pap).

There will be 64 films shown at the Royal Theater in Danville over the three day festival. There were 85 films that were submitted, and a selection committee narrowed them down to the final 64.

The films will be divided into nine showings, and each showing will last around 90 minutes (about the length of a regular full-feature film). There are films from a wide variety of genres, including animation, drama, documentaries, horror, and my favorite, comedies. However, please know that not all showings are suitable for kids, so choose carefully.

You'll want to check out the website to see a summary of each film and decide.

The nine showings are as follows:

  • October 11, 7:00 and 9:00 pm
  • October 12, 12 noon, 3:00, 6:00, and 8:00 pm
  • October 13, 1:00, 3:00, and 6:00 pm

Each film will only be shown once, so choose carefully. Tickets are $5 per showing, or $30 for the entire weekend. Plus if you get a weekend pass, you'll have access to a special VIP Filmmaker Meet and Greet session from 4:30 – 5:45 on Saturday. There will only be 100 passes available.
