The Broad Ripple Brewpub has been a popular neighborhood gathering spot since it first opened its doors back in 1990. Now, the longtime local dining/drinking institution is coming up on a milestone anniversary in November 2025 with fun plans to celebrate the occasion.

Founded by Englishman John Hill 35 years ago as a way to recreate the cozy pub vibes of his homeland here in Indy, the brewpub holds the title of oldest existing microbrewery in Indiana. The Monon Trail-adjacent location in Broad Ripple is perfectly poised to capture foot and bike traffic. Regulars usually gather in the “snug,” a cozy corner of the bar near an electric fireplace, or outside in a corner of the parking lot just off the patio when the weather is nice.

As expected, the beer menu is a major attraction, highlighting the pub’s own lineup of craft creations including Lawn Mower Pale Ale, Monon Porter, English-style Extra Special Bitter, and a house IPA (all available in full Imperial pint and half-pint sizes). There’s also a small, well-vetted selection of canned craft beers, hard cider, wine, and cocktails to consider.

In addition to traditional English pub fare like Scotch eggs, bangers and mash, shepherd’s pie, and fish and chips, the food offerings are notable for an extensive collection of tasty vegetarian and vegan items. And the family-friendly dining room makes the brewpub a great destination for diners of all ages.

To keep the focus on community, the brewpub hosts a variety of fun events such as twice-a-month trivia quizzes, annual pumpkin carving in the parking lot, Tales and Ales gatherings featuring adoptable pets, and occasional live music performances. Party plans are in the works to celebrate the pub’s 35th anniversary on Nov. 14, 2025. With any luck, the establishment will keep going strong for decades to come.
