It's that time of year ... maple syrup tapping and places all over the state are celebrating but not as much as Brown County. They are gearing up to host the 2016 National Maple Syrup Festival on March 5-6.I had the privilege to attend this event in 2015 and my family had a blast learning about all things maple syrup! This year Festival headquarters will be at the Brown County State Park. Not only will festival guests learn the basics of maple syrup and the sugaring process, they also will be able to see for themselves how it is done. There will be live demonstrations, hikes, taste testing and more.
There are even some new events this year, like the Sticky-Fingered Maple Syrup Challenge Course! You can learn all about these activities here.
The National Maple Syrup Festival will take place on Saturday, March 5 from 9-5 and on and Sunday, March 6 from 9-3. There is a cost and tickets can be purchased online. There will even be a Maple Motor Coach to take you from downtown Nashville to the festival gates.
And, speaking of downtown Nashville ... you definitely will want to spend some time there where restaurants and treat shops will be serving maple-infused items. Last year I found, Maple Syrup Pie and (not so maple related!) Bacon Carmel Corn! All you have to do is look for the "Maple on the Menu" sign. You won't want to miss the National Maple Syrup Festival this coming weekend - March 5-6.
