Art in Bloom

I love it when two ideas come together to make a great event! The city of West Lafayette has created such an event with Art in Bloom. Art and gardening—who knew they could be meshed to introduce visitors to clever, new ideas?

Art in Bloom will occur on Saturday, June 25, 2016, from 10am-2pm. The event is free and will be held, no matter the weather. Let’s pray for sunshine!

This is not the first year for this event, but it is a special occurrence as it will reflect some of our glorious state’s heritage.

As most of us know, Indiana celebrates its Bicentennial in 2016. This special birthday will be celebrated at Art in Bloom with plantings in the colors of the state flag -- blue and gold. Certain pieces of corresponding art work will also be displayed. What a fun idea!

Flora won't be the only fascinating item to observe. Local artists have been chosen to serve as guests on the tour. I can't wait to gaze at their creations as they’re making them. What inspiration these artists must get by working in such lush surroundings! Pieces of their beautiful artwork will be for sale during the walk.

Some of these gardens have received Beautification Awards, meaning extra care and exceptional landscaping has been put into their presentations.
