Even in the middle of landlocked Indiana, it’s possible to find delicious fresh fish, lobster, crab and shrimp. This seafood restaurant in Indy has been delighting foodies for seven years.
Ocean Prime opened on Indy’s 86thStreet/Keystone Crossing corridor in June 2012. Since its launch, the location has undergone several physical changes, and added sushi to its continually evolving menu.
Ocean Prime prides itself on the uncompromising quality of fresh wild and naturally harvested seafood it serves, with every item hand-selected and processed by executive chef Branden Pegg.
The cocktail menu showcases creative craft concoctions like the Berries & Bubbles martini, a stunner that arrives at the table bubbling with dry ice. Bourbon drinkers will be excited to learn the restaurant just unveiled its own exclusive small-batch Woodford Reserve blend called Ocean Prime Indianapolis #1, and has also recently partnered with Trefethen Family Vineyards in Napa to introduce a 2017 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon blend named Prime Red.
Although there are delicious choices like prime steaks with sauces, sides and trimmings; Miller Farms chicken and a pork porterhouse to consider, the fish and seafood are, of course, the shining stars.
The Point Judith calamari appetizer comes topped with a tangle of julienned carrot, bean sprouts and a sweet chili sauce, or customers can go all out with a custom-assembled “smoking” shellfish tower loaded with fresh offerings.
The Surf & Turf entrée crowns an 8 oz. filet mignon with a tender butter-poached lobster tail for the best of both worlds.
Whatever you order, make sure to save room for dessert. You can’t go wrong with any of the sweet finales, but the gorgeous 10-layer carrot cake with cream cheese frosting is a tasty showstopper.
In the near future, look for Ocean Prime to roll out a new private dining room and several new seasonal menu items including a black miso cod with bok choy and an Ocean Roll.
