The golf community and the State of Indiana suffered a great loss with the passing of the incomparable Pete Dye on January 9, 2020. His impact will be felt for generations in the tapestry of amazing courses he has brought to the game of golf. As resident Hoosier and the architect of the Pete Dye Golf Trail, his passing brought comments and condolences from around the state and the game of golf.

"My best memory of Pete Dye was the time I was able to walk hole #11 on Ackerman-Allen backwards as he determined if holes 11 and 10 were going to be routed as they are today, or if it would have been better to flip the tees and greens on those holes and play 11 as 10 and play it backwards from the way it is played today. "I took two things from that day. First, Pete has an incredible imagination to create championship level courses, sometimes even redesigning existing holes. Second, I was always impressed that Pete liked to walk his courses during the design. At 90 years of age he was still walking the courses he was designing.
