Indiana State Parks
Memories Made Naturally
Hiking with cousins. Boating with friends. Staying in a cabin with Grandma and Grandpa. Mountain biking with your kids. These are the makings of some of the best summer memories. You can do all these activities and more in an Indiana State Park! No matter where you are in Indiana, you’re within an hour of one. Whether you pitch a tent or stay in one of the beautiful inns, you’ll awaken each morning to a full day of fresh air and outdoor fun.
Turkey Run State Park
One of the great things about hiking at Turkey Run is that all the trails take you through ravine streambeds. The most rugged trail includes ladders, but there are also easy and moderate trails for a more relaxed adventure. No matter the trail, the views are magnificent.
Clifty Falls State Park
The waterfalls in Clifty Falls State Park change moods with the season, so you’ll want to make more than one trip there to catch them at different levels of force. After a day of hiking, you can take in the beautiful views high above the Ohio River when you stay at the Clifty Falls Inn.
Indiana Dunes State Park
The shifting sand dunes at Lake Michigan provide the perfect backdrop for relaxing or an exhilarating workout when you take the 3-Dune Challenge. Either way, you’ll work up an appetite, so bring a picnic lunch or sample the day’s offerings from food trucks.
Brown County State Park
Your indoor fitness equipment will be just a distant memory when you’re pedaling through Brown County State Park. Get ready for berms, steep switchbacks, trees, rock gardens and breathtaking views. No wonder it’s one of only 33 trails in the whole country named a Hall of Fame Epic Ride by the International Mountain Biking Association.
Canyon Inn
The beautiful Canyon Inn in McCormick’s Creek State Park now offers pet-friendly accommodations, ensuring your whole family enjoys your getaway. You’ll feel right at home in the welcoming inn, playing board games in the homey common spaces or dining with enchanting views of the wildlife just outside the windows.
Monroe Lake
There’s nothing like a day on the water, whether you’re paddling yourself in a kayak or speeding along in a ski boat. Better yet—stay for a few days so you can try it all!
Potawatomi Inn
When you vacation at Potawatomi Inn in Pokagon State Park, you’re just steps from the beautiful Lake James. In addition to all the water activities, including boat rentals, you can also ride horses or bikes.
Spring Mill State Park
This is the only Indiana State Park where you can tour a cave by boat! Spring Mill is also home to a Pioneer Village and the Grissom Memorial. You can stay in the Spring Mill Inn so you have time to try everything.
Cataract Falls at Lieber State Recreation Area
Voted the state’s #1 waterfall, Cataract Falls provides a beautiful backdrop for your hiking selfies. In addition to hiking, you can boat on Cagles Mill Lake or play in the state-of-the-art aquatic center.
State Park Camping
“Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight…” Just one of the many perks of camping under the Indiana sky. All of the Indiana State Parks offer all levels of camping, from primitive to modern.
