Things To Do IN Brown County Indiana
About This Road Trip
Brown County State Park
The beautiful hills and woods are the perfect setting for adventure, especially in Brown County State Park, known for its rigorous mountain biking trails and beautiful vistas. There you can also ride a horse chosen just for you at the Brown County Saddle Barn. You can stay in a cabin or campground or opt for the inn, which includes the Abe Martin Lodge Aquatic Center, featuring a zero entry pool, water slide, water channel, fountains and a waterfall.
Exploring Forests Above & Below
At eXplore Brown County, you can do all 12 ziplines in the canopy tour, challenge each other to paintball or arrow tag, or take a guided ATV ride through the woods. You can stay in one of their cabins or camp there, too. The three-mile trail at Hitz-Rhodehamel Nature Preserve takes you through a mature oak forest.
A Place for Art & Shopping
Known as the art colony of the Midwest, Nashville attracts those who create art and those who collect it. Shopping in downtown Nashville takes you to quaint, locally owned shops selling everything from clothing and jewelry to home decor and original arts and crafts. Nature creates the masterpieces just outside Nashville, like at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site, where you’ll see the scenic vistas and majestic landscapes that prompted this famous painter to build his home here.
For the 21+ Crowd
Visit Hard Truth Hills, home to Hard Truth Distilling Co., Indiana's largest destination craft distillery, Big Woods restaurant, and the Hard Truth Hills Tours and Tasting Center. You can even hop on an ATV to have a guided tour of the 325-acre woods. You'll walk through distinctive timber frame entryway at Big Woods, their brew pub that serves delicious gastropub fare and locally made craft beer. The fully stocked bar includes a selection of beers from another branch of the family: Quaff ON! “Quaff” means to drink heartily and with gusto, and that’s their rallying cry to their loyal fans. At Brown County Winery, you can watch wines being made through windows in the tasting room.
