100 Years & 4 Generations of Currys

Curry Auto Center’s 100th anniversary makes it the second-oldest Buick dealership in the world.  The Bloomington-based business has been family-owned since W.S. Curry started the dealership in 1915. His son, Glenn, took the dealership over from 1924-1928 as W.S. served a term as Monroe County Sheriff.  The two Currys continued to run the business through trying times like The Great Depression, which forced many dealerships to close their doors, and World War II, which halted the production of automobiles available to consumers.  W.S.’s grandson, Richard, who joined the dealership in 1947, became the owner/dealer operation when his father retired in 1969.  Richard’s son, Cary, began working at Curry Auto Center in 1976.  In 1994, Cary became a co-owner of the dealership with his father.  Cary continues leading the dealership today.
