In 1993, there weren’t many options for craving authentic Mexican cuisine in Montgomery County. So, with little money but a lot of support and faith, Irma and Ignacio Bravo opened up Little Mexico in downtown Crawfordsville. The couple had moved from Chicago to Crawfordsville two years earlier due to a job transfer. When they would bring Irma’s homemade Mexican food for lunch, co-workers noticed. And when they tasted her amazing cooking, they urged her to open a restaurant.
Over the past 30 years, Little Mexico has become a beloved staple in the food scene of this county seat. In 2009, they updated the look of the eatery, bringing some of the bright decor of their heritage. Stunning Mexican-inspired artwork, intricate table tops, colorful paint schemes and decorative chairs make for a fun, immersive experience once you step in the doors.
And the food is still made from scratch the same way it was when Irma would pack lunches that wowed her co-workers. With everything from queso to quesadillas, Mexican pizza to flautas, enchiladas to fajitas and much, much more, you can be assured you’ll be getting something that is freshly made and full of flavor.
You can also turn your meal into a fiesta with a big selection of margaritas, Modelo or specialty cocktails.
