The best times to visit are in early summer and early autumn, but I was just there and saw plenty of fragrant blooms.

Hayes Arboretum, a 100-acre living museum, is all about exploration opportunities. You can mosey along scenic trails and check out the diverse plant life.

Waterfall Wonders

Escape the summer heat with a refreshing visit to Thistlethwaite Falls. I love the fact that there’s a waterfall in the city and the cascading waters plunge over a limestone ledge, creating a picture-perfect scene. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the tranquility of the surrounding nature. 

Outdoor Oasis

Glen Miller Park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Rent a kayak or paddleboat and explore the pretty water. You can also hike or bike along the trails, or simply relax on the grassy expanse and soak up the sunshine.

The Barn at Helm

For a unique summer experience, visit The Barn at Helm and pick your blooms at their u-pick flower field. For a flat fee, they provide the vase and water - all you need to do is cut and arrange them! 

Step Back in Time

Delve into Richmond's fascinating past at the Wayne County Historical Museum. Explore exhibits showcasing the city's evolution, from its Native American roots to its industrial boom. Be sure to check out the mummies, a rarity in Indiana!

Immerse yourself in the artistic spirit at the Richmond Art Museum, housed within a historic high school. Admire diverse collections spanning centuries, and discover the works of local and regional talents. 

Motoring Marvels

History buffs and car enthusiasts won't want to miss the Model T Ford Museum. Journey through the evolution of the automobile industry, with a particular focus on the iconic Model T. I love checking out vintage cars and this museum has several buildings filled with them!

Stop by Abbott's Candies, a local favorite, for a taste of their nostalgic treats and the best caramels I’ve ever eaten.

Craft beer enthusiasts will delight in exploring the Richmond and Wayne County area's breweries. Sample unique brews at the New Boswell Brewery and enjoy the cool atmosphere.

Savor the bounty of the season at the Richmond Farmers Market. Pick up fresh local produce, artisan breads, and delicious homemade treats. Folks start arriving first thing in the morning, so if you want a good parking place, make sure you arrive in plenty of time. 

Shop 'til You Drop

Spend a leisurely afternoon browsing the unique shops and boutiques lining Antique Alley (its hub is in Cambridge City). Here you can look for hidden treasures, vintage finds, and locally-made crafts, all housed in charming historic buildings.
