Nestled in the heart of downtown Elkhart, this hotel stands as a testament to the city’s rich history and vibrant present. This boutique hotel blends classic elegance with modern comfort, making it a favorite destination for travelers seeking both luxury and local charm. Here’s why you need to put Hotel Elkhart on your radar the next time you visit.
A Storied Past
Hotel Elkhart first opened its doors in 1923 and used to be the city’s tallest building. It quickly became a social hub for the community. Over the decades, it has hosted countless events and famous folks (remember Ed Sullivan?), each adding to its storied legacy.
After a period of closure and extensive renovations, the hotel was lovingly restored and reopened in 2021, preserving its historic architecture while introducing contemporary amenities.
Types of Rooms
The Hotel Elkhart offers a variety of accommodations to suit every guest’s needs. During my visit, I had a truly comfortable stay in a two-queen-bed room.
- Classic Guest Rooms: These rooms feature plush bedding, modern décor, and all the essentials for a comfortable stay.
- Suites: Perfect for families or those seeking extra space, suites include separate living areas, luxurious bathrooms, and enhanced in-room features.
Each room also offers high-speed Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, filtered water, and premium bath products.
Amenities
There is a range of amenities to make your visit a good one:
- Fitness Center: A well-equipped gym allows guests to maintain their workout routines.
- Pet-Friendly Accommodations: The hotel's pet policy means you and your furry friends will be well taken care of. If you have a pet allergy, make sure to let the hotel know ahead of time.
Dining
There are three restaurants in Hotel Elkhart:
- Relish Cafe & Confections: The hotel’s signature restaurant serves contemporary American cuisine. Guests can enjoy breakfast, brunch, and desserts in a stylish setting. I tried both the breakfast and brunch during my stay and enjoyed every bite.
-
The Corner Bar: A cozy spot for craft cocktails, local beers, and full meals, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. It’s open in the evening, so it’s ideal for dinner.
-
The High Note: Located on the rooftop, this is the spot to grab a drink or a quick bite. Since it's open air, The High Note is only open seasonally.
Parking
The Hotel Elkhart offers convenient, on-site parking for guests. There’s a covered parking garage with dedicated hotel spots for folks staying at the hotel.
