I'm always on the hunt for unique lodging, and on a recent stay in Wabash, I stayed in one of the most unique spots yet. The Sanctuary of Wabash is an overnight event hub housed in a 1903 Gothic-style church just minutes away from historic downtown Wabash.

We had the whole first floor to ourselves when we were there, which meant private access to the large kitchen, dining table and sitting area in the former sanctuary. Our bedroom was located in the back with a dressing area and a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. Every room had beautiful stained glass windows, and they were such a beautiful sight to wake up to. More bedrooms are situated on the lower level.

Because of the large gathering space, the Sanctuary of Wabash is ideal for large groups, meetings, business conferences, wedding parties, retreats, reunions and other events. In total, there are seven private bedrooms, five bathrooms, two living rooms and a huge kitchen with plenty of seating at a long wooden dining table on the kitchen island. It's a perfect spot for a girl's getaway or to get the bridal party together the night before the big day.

The main living room has a huge seating area and a fireplace that is operated by a touch screen. All the lighting on the main floor is hi-tech and operated via iPad.

You're close to downtown, where there are lots of dining options, but you'll likely want to take advantage of this beautiful kitchen with commercial-grade appliances and two dishwashers.

If you're looking for a stay that is far from a standard hotel room, this is one that will wow you and leaves you with wonderful memories. For more information, visit thesanctuaryofwabash.com.
