When it comes to winter activities in Indiana, there’s no shortage, especially in the holiday lights department. If you’re a fan of Indiana State Parks, you’ll definitely want to check out these six that have gorgeous Christmas light events. Proceeds from each event will benefit Friends of Indiana State Parks to help with recreation area improvement. 

Lieber State Recreation Area

For two weekends this year, December 1-3 and 8-10, Lieber State Recreation Area will offer drive-through holiday lights and displays. Weaving through the park and campground, each session is from 6-9 pm. While there isn’t an official cost, donations are highly encouraged.

Mounds State Park

Each night from December 1-31, Mounds State Park will have 60 gorgeously lit holiday displays throughout the park’s campground areas as well as buildings around the park. Visiting hours are from 6-9:30 pm nightly, and there is a cost of $10 per vehicle, both credit cards and cash are accepted.

Ouabache State Park

Ouibache State Park’s annual Wonderland of Lights will kick off on December 1st and run through the 31st. From 6-9 pm each night, the drive-through will feature over 40 displays, including a synchronized musical show at the Civilian Conservation Corps fire tower. The cost is $5 per vehicle, and only cash or check is accepted.

For four nights, December 7-10, Shakamak State Park will be decking its proverbial halls at the Group Camp with several additional buildings beautifully lit as well. If that wasn’t enough, on December 9th, families can partake in a Breakfast with Santa from 9-11 am.

Spring Mill State Park

On December 1st and 2nd from 6-9:45 pm, Spring Mill State Park will host its Holidays Lights drive-through. The same weekend as the park’s Holiday in the Village, admission is $5 per car (cash only). Additionally, guests may vote on their favorite decorated site, and the winner selected will receive a prize of two free nights of camping in 2024.

This year, Christmas in the Campground at Starve Hollow State Recreation Area will feature drive-through light displays in the Vallonia recreation area grounds on December 9th only from 5-10 pm. Additionally, the Forest Education Center will be offering holiday activities and the opportunity to vote for the best campsites. A $5 donation is recommended.
