About Racedays and Events IN Indiana

Racedays in Indiana are special. For some, this means getting in line at 4:00 am to get their spot in the infield at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  For others, it means rolling out of their camper as the gates open at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park and walking the short distance from the campgrounds to the track for a day of championship drag racing.  Tradition holds true with race fans and everyone has a story about their first race.

Racing season in Indiana starts for many when the first INDYCAR Series and NASCAR races drop the green flag in February and March in California and Florida.  For the rest of us, the tracks open in April and the events continue almost every weekend until October when the final checkered flag is waived.

Special weeks that are worth the trip to Indiana include USAC Indiana Midget Week in early June and USAC Indiana Sprint Week at the end of July.  You can visit six historic racetracks, see plenty of great racing and most of the state in just one week.

If 4-wheel racing isn’t your speed, travel to Crawfordsville for the Ironman Raceway for one of the largest motocross races in the country.  Their October event hosts more than 2,500 racers and features something for all ages, from trick-or-treating to a costume contest and live music.

Race day is full of traditions, excitement and lots of fun.  Race day is memorable at every event and most offer plenty to see and do in addition to the high-quality driving happening on dirt, asphalt or water.
