Arthur Trester was born in 1878 in Pecksburg (which was 2.1 miles east), was elected to the Board of Control of Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) in 1911, was appointed Permanent Secretary in 1913, and continued after 1929 as Commissioner of High School Athletics. Under Trester, the showcase of IHSAA became high school basketball, reflected in the term "Hoosier Hysteria, " still used today.
