Warning About Visiting Active High Schools

When planning to visit any Indiana high school gymnasium, please contact the athletic department first to identify an appropriate day and time.  Most schools are not open to the general public during school hours.  Consider buying a ticket to a girls' or boys' game, see the gym and some great high school basketball.

2003 S Miller St, Shelbyville, IN 46176

Bill Garrett, for whom the gym was named, led the Golden Bears to the school’s only state championship in 1947 while also being named Mr. Basketball. The 6′ 2″ center would become the first African-American in the Big Ten when he enrolled at Indiana University in Bloomington in 1947. The gym itself is a rounded design and includes seating for 5,832.
